The Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority advised the Silver City Police Department of a reported robbery which occurred around 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, near Pizza Hut off W. Highway 180. GCRDA stated a juvenile male was inside Pizza Hut crying and asking someone to call the cops.
The responding officer, according to an SCPD incident report, noted the male child's left cheek was red and his nose was bleeding. The victim told the officer he had an argument earlier with another kid on the bus and was on his way to Family Dollar to buy his brother a birthday gift. When he got there, the child said, an adult male got out of a black car and asked if he knew the child he had had the argument with. The victim stated, "Yes, he did," and the man slapped him in the face.

On Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at about 8:57 p.m., a Silver City Police Department officer responded to an attempted robbery call that took place at 1011 Hudson Street about 20 minutes earlier. According to an SCPD incident report, the officer made contact at the SCPD station with a 29-year-old male who advised he had been jogging in the area of Market and Black streets, when a male on a bicycle stopped him, pointed a bright light at his face and said, "Silver City Police. Get on the ground and empty the contents out of your pockets."
As the light, presumably from a flashlight the victim said, was on his face he could not determine if the assailant was a police officer or not but did as the attacker ordered. The thug then stated, as the light was on the victim's face, "Oh, f***. Wrong person," and rode off quickly on his bike.

The Silver City Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1000 block of N. Corbin Street at about 6:04 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. According to SCFD Fire Investigator Eloy Vasquez, the fire started in a bedroom where a lit candle on a dresser may have fallen over. A person working on a vehicle outside the home smelled burning plastic and tried to extinguish the flames but was unsuccessful, Vasquez said. Although the fire was principally limited to the bedroom of the two-bedroom mobile home, heavy smoke, fire, and water damage to the rest of the dwelling deemed it unsafe and the occupants were displaced.

On-duty personnel of Silver City Fire Department No 2 Station on 32nd Street pushed their new engine into its bay Tuesday morning. Sept. 12, 2023. According to SCFD Chief Milo Lambert, the 'pushing' is a commemoration of a decades long custom dating to the horse-drawn engine days when after working a fire, the horses were unhooked from the engine and the engine pushed backward into the bay by the firefighters.
