(Courtesy photo)If you want to know more about making pottery, or you would like to hear how poetry helped a local woman cope with grief, or if you would like to see local high school students make some of their first public presentations, you may be interested in attending an upcoming Rotary Club meeting.  Members of the public are always invited to Rotary meetings of interest to them.

On October 15, local poet and yoga instructor Becky Glenn will share how poetry helped her cope with the death of her husband after almost 30 years of marriage.   On October 22, students from Aldo Leopold’s public speaking class will make presentations to the club. On October 29, local potter Claude Smith III will share his story about being a potter, and how, as he puts it:  “It is only by Grace that I have enjoyed these last 11 years of my life.” He will also discuss the techniques he uses in Saggar Firing and Raku Firing.

The Silver City Rotary Club meets every Tuesday for lunch in the Sunset Room of the WNMU Student Cafeteria in the WNMU Student Memorial Building at 1000 College Avenue.  There is no charge to attend the meeting and presentation, but guests are asked to contribute $10 if they wish to join the Rotarians in eating a lunch with a hot entree, salad, and dessert.  The lunch line opens at noon; the meeting begins at 12:15 p.m.; the presentation starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
