Don’t get excited. These three words don’t mean very much right now… but maybe sometime in the future they will.

This past weekend Grant County Manager - Charlene Webb and I, along with Mike Baragree and Michael Baragree escorted two movie/television location managers around Grant County. We saw some places I had never visited before, and others that were familiar to me. It was a great opportunity to see our area. During our time with these film industry folks, it was amazing to hear some of the comments made about places we were visiting. At the end of the three-day visit, we feel certain we made some great headway in our efforts to attract a major movie, television show or major ad campaign to shoot their script in our area of southwest New Mexico.

These two ladies shot hundreds, maybe even thousands of pictures to take back home with them. They truly seemed excited over what they had discovered right here in little old Grant County. Thank you to all the people that allowed us to show your land, your homes, and your businesses. Thank you to Bear Mountain Lodge for having a place for these folks to lay their heads. And thank you to Grant County and the Town of Silver City for your assistance to build a good relationship that will hopefully pay off in great dividends in the future.

There’s a saying I use quite often… “if you never ask, you will never get a yes”. It is important that we continue to work to elevate our efforts to bring a movie, advertisement, or television project to our area. I have enjoyed working with Mimbres Film LLC over the last couple of years to bring a large project to our region of the world. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed that the ladies come back…. and next time they return with a script in hand. We will keep working with Mimbres Film LLC to attract a project to our area.

Now let’s talk about a couple events.
