We will celebrate our Independence Day on the traditional fourth day of July. This year’s theme is “Made in the USA – Built to Last!” … and it will be a fun day for everyone.

We will begin setting up Gough Park after 12:00 pm on July 3. The food vendors, the information booths, the arts and crafts tents, the spaces with games and toys, the Veteran’s booths. Many of them will start setting up in Gough Park to be ready for you on Independence Day.

So, what kind of food will you find? Everything from turkey legs to roasted corn on the cob. Pancakes, barbeque, Indian tacos, popcorn, snow cones, soda pops, bottled water, and more will be available for you to enjoy. The Kiwanis Club “All You Can Eat” Pancake breakfast begins at 7:00 and ends at 10:00 am. The Kiwanis BBQ Lunch will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, or until they run out of barbeque. Most of the food vendors will begin having their food ready by late morning and they will sell through about 4:00 pm.

The parade will begin at 10:00 am next to Wells Fargo Bank. It will travel down Pope and Bullard Streets, turning left at Broadway Street. After crossing the bridge, the parade will turn left again and travel up Hudson Street (Highway 90), turning back toward Gough Park on 13th Street. As the parade comes back by Gough Park, we will have the Antique Tractors pulling into the park so that people can enjoy seeing up-close the antique tractors that were made in the USA.

If you enjoy music, Brandon Perrault and friends will provide live music from Noon to 4:00 pm. It will begin with the raising of the American flag and Brandon will lead the crowd in singing our National Anthem. Brandon Perrault and Friends will play a mix of country, rock and Hispanic music. They are a great band. There’s no doubt everyone will enjoy their music.

During the day, the Silver City Museum will hold their annual Ice Cream Social at the Museum located on Broadway Street in Silver City. This is always a fun event to attend.

Then after the sun sets in the west. As the night sky finally begins turning dark, the Silver City Fireworks Show will begin. The sky will be filled with starbursts and exploding colors. The fireworks show is always fun to watch. As in years past, the fireworks will be shot from an area on the hill behind the Grant County Administration Building located along Highway 180 East in Silver City.

There are still a few spaces left in Gough Park for vendors… and folks can still enter the July 4th Parade. Call the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce office about receiving an application or entry form. Our phone number is (575) 538-3785. But you need to hurry, the deadline for entering is 5:00 pm on Wednesday – June 26, 2019.
