On Wednesday of next week, all three of the items listed above will be used by the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce. We have large ceremonial scissors along with rolls of yellow, green, burgundy, blue and red ribbon. We have one dozen wood-handle shovels with the metal spades painted gold. We have a nice outdoor sound system with two microphones, speakers and amplifier. And all of it will fit in the back of my truck... I hope.
On Wednesday at 11:30, we will help celebrate the Grand Opening of the full-service, on-site Pharmacy at the HMS Community Center located at 1007 North Pope Street in Silver City. We will use the scissors and ribbon for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at 12:00 (noon). The Grand Opening is scheduled from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. If you plan to attend the Grand Opening, please RSVP to info@hmsnm.org or call 575-597-2727.
From the grand opening, ribbon-cutting event, we will load my stuff and head over to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Tu Casa facility to be constructed at 3200 32nd Street Bypass. So this is where we will use the outdoor sound system and the dozen gold shovels. Some folks have been waiting a long time to see this project come together. Tu Casa will offer a recovery-focused, comprehensive and coordinated continuum of care for adult substance abuse patients. I sure hope the construction company tills up the ground a little. It's been a while since we had a heavy rain, so the ground is probably pretty hard right now. I have been to groundbreaking ceremonies when the ground did not cooperate... and would not break open for the shovels. That was embarrassing and quite funny.
You're invited to attend these events if you can.
Now, how do I finish this article? A recent advertisement in this paper makes it sound as if there are some people who do not like the idea of me writing about or talking about
- the Village of Santa Clara trying to save historic Fort Bayard
- Denny's restaurant is coming to town
- Denying to give the phone number to a pharmacy in Mexico and
- Asking people to shop locally.
So, let me see if I can help this newspaper sell some additional ad space by saying these things:
- If you like the old US Calvary fort located East of Silver City that helps draw tourists to this area, there is a small community located adjacent to this historic facility that needs to raise about $8000. The money will be used to purchase supplies necessary to "mothball" some of the buildings at the historic site. Hopefully this bandage project will slow down the deterioration of these beautiful buildings. You can donate by calling the Town Hall of the Village I should not give support to.
- I plan to order the Lumberjack Slam on my first trip to that no-good, national chain restaurant that is being built on a site that would have been perfect for Millie's Gentlemen's Club. I wonder why the people who bought that ad didn't complain about Millie's Gentlemen's Club. Hmmm?
- So here are a couple of phone numbers (575)388-0133, (575)388-1614, (575)534-0053 and (575)388-3113. I admit it. None of these phone numbers is in Mexico; however all of these are pharmacies.
- With the recent news surrounding Sears Holdings Corporation, the local Sears Hometown Store will continue providing the community access to the brands they love and need. Albertson's is still providing "Monopoly" game pieces. Food Basket in Silver City has been going through a remodel. The new refrigeration cases in the meat market area and the new bins in the fruits and vegetables have really opened up the area to give it a fresh, new look. Oh my gosh... Dominoes will move to the old Taco Bell location and have a dine-in area. And don't fret; Walmart doesn't stop dogs from shopping.
