After being shut down for a week and one day, the Silver City Gospel Mission Soup Kitchen is open once again!

Thanks to a grant from the United Way of SW New Mexico, we were able to install a much needed vent hood and fire suppression system.

Helping us install this system were SunRay Contracting, Rascal's Electric, DMCO Fire Protection, Grant Gose who donated and installed the sheet metal backing and Louis Saxton who cleaned our stove and grill and donated and replaced some ceiling tiles where the new vent went through the roof.

We were able to keep some hungry folks happy by providing sack lunches, but it is great to be able to use the kitchen again.

If you are employed with Freeport-McMoran and a few other businesses around town, you can designate a portion of each paycheck to go to the United Way and 100% of all funds collected stays in Grant County.

Thanks to everyone for all of your hard work and support!
