As threads continue to unravel in the ongoing investigations into Hunter Biden's misdeeds, it is worth reminding New Mexicans that this international story has direct ties to New Mexico. In December of 2019, TS Last wrote a piece called "There's a Hunter Biden Santa Fe Connection" which appeared in the Albuquerque Journal.

Among the focal points of the article was Daniel Burrell, of the Burrell College of Medicine, a for-profit medical school in Las Cruces.

Burrell is not a household name nationwide, but his business ties connect him to persons beyond well-known at a national level. Those ties include many in business and national politics that have deep and apparent involvement in Hunter Biden's questionable businesses. In late 2009, Burrell became CEO of BGK-Rosemont Realty. BGK was started by Eddie Gilbert, a man twice convicted of securities fraud as detailed in a Forbes article titled, "Eddie Gilbert Wants You To Buy In."

Devon Archer, a member of Rosemont Realty's Board of Advisors, was also convicted of securities fraud alongside John Galanis and Bevan Cooney, after a Morgan Stanley banker recognized suspicious activities regarding Rosemont Seneca accounts and reported the inconsistencies to the SEC in 2016, according to U.S. v Galanis, Case 1:16-cr-00371-RA.

In this case, Burrell reportedly wrote a letter of support for Cooney, who was ultimately convicted. Paul Sohn, yet another Rosemont Realty board member, who also wrote a letter in support of a defendant, previously worked as an advisor for George Soros, who invested in the company Herbalife, which paid $122 Million to resolve an FCPA Case implicating the company and lobbied Kamala Harris as Attorney General of California.

Another associate of Burrell and Archer's, who was seated on Rosemont Realty's Board of Advisors from 2010-2014 and was subpoenaed in the case mentioned above is none other than Robert Hunter Biden, who of course is facing multiple federal investigations, the most recent of which involves the dealings of firearms, as stated in U.S. v. Robert Hunter Biden, filed September 14, 2023.

Now Burrell finds himself implicated in a federal investigation directly, as stated in the United States v. Matthew Brent Goettsche Case 2:19-cr-00877-CCC; The Third Bill of Forfeitures states a "principal sum of $8.75 million transferred to or for the benefit of Burrell Diversified Investments…"

On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, during a plea hearing, Biden himself mentioned Rosemont when questioned about the Ukrainian and Chinese companies with which he has held board seats, saying "the Chinese private equity fund was Bohai, Harvest, and Rosemont."

Interestingly, this plea hearing mentions only the years 2017-2019, when Gemini-Rosemont, in 2015, sold a controlling share to Hong Kong company Sino Ocean Land. In 2014 Gemini Investments (Holdings), LLC (HK0174) paid $1.87 Billion for BGK-Rosemont, including 23 buildings in the greater New Mexico area, despite a market value appraisal of only $522 Million.

In 2013 Burrell announced plans to develop the country's largest garnet mine in Otero County, New Mexico, which was to bring nearly 50 high paying jobs and $160 million to the county over 10 years. However, the mine was never started, the processing plant never built, and no jobs were ever created (Burrell Diversified Investments LLC v. Tetra Tech, Inc.).

These connections alone should spark a string of questions from those literate enough in financial dealings to comprehend the potential magnitude of the aforementioned transactions when surveyed in light of the pattern of problematic actions taken by each associate in turn.

Together, they seem to indicate that Burrell may be the center string in the tangled web of allegations against Hunter Biden, and that Burrell, if interviewed by the House Oversight Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, or the House Ways and Means Committee, could connect the dots and provide a clearer picture of exactly what guilt Hunter Biden and his associates may or may not carry.

Finally, these implications place an incredible burden on New Mexico as they indicate that the Land of Enchantment has perhaps been providing a playing field for the President's son unbeknownst to the residents herein.
