This Saturday, July 21, the Walking Tour of Ft. Bayard National Historic Landmark. takes place at 9:30 am, beginning at the Fort Bayard Commanding Officer’s Quarters. Bill Kupke leads a tour that covers military history including Buffalo Soldiers, architecture, the ‘tuberculosis years’ and daily life on the post.
State Rep. Murray Ryan will be honored at 11 am. Free, donations accepted. Sponsored by Fort Bayard Historical Preservation Society. 388 9123; 388 4477
AND, if you like snakes, salamanders, cockatoos, and hedgehogs . . . these are just a few of the animals you will see as the Albuquerque Zoo and the Bayard Public Library present "Zoo to You" a free live animal exhibit. The exhibit will be held Tuesday July 24th from 2:00-5:00 at The Bayard Community Center, 209 Hurley Avenue.  For more information about this event, contact Jody Decker, 575-537-6244
