Sand Dollars, Stockings, and Poetry in Bayard

Jody Decker, Librarian of the Bayard Public Library reports that Sand Dollar Ornament making was a big hit at the Bayard Public Library.  She sends out special thanks to Nickie Doyle for volunteering her time and resources to help children create ornaments.  Nickie brought 30 sand dollars and all of them were used during the class; children took the ornaments home or hung them on the library's Christmas tree.  Librarian Becky Schumway and Esther Mendoza also created ornaments for the library's Christmas tree.  A fun time was had by all.

Saturday, Dec. 22, was the Bayard First Annual Christmas Gathering, held at the Triangle across from Lotta-Burger.  Many of you see the lighted Christmas tree sitting in the triangle area this year. Approximately 30 plus people showed up for Christmas Caroling and hot chocolate, hot apple cider and cookies. So and so and So and so led the singing. Everyone that attended seemed to have a good time and I heard them saying they sure hoped we did this again next year. In spite of the cold, I know it gave me a nice warm fuzzy feeling.
After the first of the year, there will be a Celebration of Life for Louis Baum in Bayard, most probably at the Lyons Club. Information will be posted on this site prior to its happening.
Here's hoping Santa was good to everyone and that all kids,no matter how old, got what they wanted for Christmas. I got my wish this year, my gift to me, were some delicious sweet tamales from the Spanish Restaurant on Central Avenue. Now if I can just figure out how to eat all of them without gaining weight. :)
Decorating Stockings and Mittens at The Bayard Public Library's Holiday Craft Hour was quite successful.  Thanks to Kim Godfrey for donating her time to teach this craft class.

With the coming New Year I personally want to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy New Year that is filled with good health, love, prosperity and peace. May 2013 be the best year ever for all and especially for the Mining District - may it grow and shine!
