We have documented not only on the radio show but in the pages of the blog or in previous columns how liberals claim to be fighting for your rights and your freedoms: that they want you to have ability to do what you want. Look at a lot of these people who are now entrenched in the political system. They were the radicals of the 60s and 70s fighting against 'the man.' But their way is to have conformity. They enact laws that make sure we all act alike or share the same opinions. If you have a different opinion than them you must be a racist or a bigot.

I have been watching closely the increasing number of arrests in England where people are being arrested just because they said something that someone else might find offensive. Of course, most of the time these are people speaking out against the activities of the Muslim community or they disagree with the liberals in some way. Last week I saw an article where a blogger was arrested for strongly criticizing the national health system and the rationing of health care. But who decides what is 'hate speech?'

So, the Metropolitan Police put a post on their Facebook page, because the question is out there, how do you define what is a hate crime? First, they point out that many of these people are not necessarily committing a crime they are just exercising their supposed right to free speech. However, it’s not that simple. The response from the Metropolitan Police was this, “if someone does something that isn't a criminal offense but the victim, or anyone else, believes it was motivated by prejudice or hate, we would classify this as a hate incident. While what the perpetrator has done may not be against the law, their reasons for doing it are. This means it may be possible to charge them with an offense.

Wasn't there a Tom Cruise movie where police could get into your dreams or your thoughts and before you committed a crime, if you even just thought about it, they would arrest you and put you in prison. That is one step away from what they are doing now in England and what many people in this country want to do here. I mean think about this, the number of violent crimes being committed in England at the hands of Muslim immigrants is increasing. The people committing these crimes are doing so, by their own words, in the name of their religion. When someone speaks out against them or says we must control immigration from Islamic countries where these violent people are coming from, they are now committing a hate crime because it is assumed that they are doing so out of bigotry or prejudice.

I want you to look back at their definition, where it says if the victim or anyone else believes it was motivated by prejudice or hate, then it is a hate crime. Think about that. You may make an innocuous statement that is not at all motivated by hate or prejudice but is just an observation of what is happening but if someone else is offended then you could be arrested.

Even worse is that you are guilty and must prove your innocence. How do you prove that you are not prejudiced or bigoted? The assumption is that if you made that statement you must be a bigot. What happened to the idea that you are innocent until proven guilty? I am not responsible for what you understand or how you take what I say because it is filtered through your belief system and your experiences. I may say something that is not at all intended in the manner you took it and now I am guilty of a hate crime?

Folks we are treading on thin ice here and Big Brother is right around the corner. We are supposed to be a nation where the free exchange of ideas is not only welcomed, but it is protected by the law. Liberals have already banned conservatives and Christians from speaking in public places. Many have called for banning of conservative news sources, opinion shows, and the public practice of Christianity. All because they are offended or believe we are offending someone else. It is not a far step to arresting us for saying something they don’t like.
