This week it was difficult to decide what to write about in the column. It's not like there's a shortage of topics to discuss: maybe Robert Mueller's self-serving statement, James Comey's fictional op-ed, the privately built border wall in Santa Teresa, immigration, or you get the idea. It just seems that I'd be repeating the same themes over and over again.

Maybe I could remind people to listen to My World on KSCQ 92.9 FM each Saturday at 9:00 a.m. We'll be talking about many of those topics plus the stupid criminals and Darwin award nominees that inhabit our planet. Or my new radio venture that will begin Tuesday on KNFT 102.9 FM. A Piece of My World debuts at 7:00 a.m. but will be a bit different from the show or this column.

Now that I've talked about the radio side of my life, what else is left that might spark my creative side? A couple of stories with a whole lot of NOPE! 2 cases this week of snakes being in places that you don't want them. One in a man's toilet and another in a shopping cart. You'll have to tune in Saturday to get the rest of the story.

Maybe a reminder that we all need sometimes, that I got again this past week. My wife and I have been considering, for quite a while, getting a second place in Las Cruces or Tucson. You know most of the reasons, more shopping, more restaurants, but also larger tennis and golf communities. Although I'll say that our golf community is better than any other I've been around; the course, well that's another story since WNMU took over management.

But, the reminder: when we look at all of the things we love to do, there are very few places like Silver City. How many hiking/biking trails are within 30 minutes of town? Too many to do in a year unless you are a hard core hiker/biker.

The Melodrama runs for the next few weekends and is just one of the many arts and cultural offerings our community has throughout the year. Not to mention the Western Institute of Lifelong Learning with tons of informative and fun programs.

But our greatest asset is our people, some of the local politicians specifically excluded from that group. A client of mine was in the office this week talking about the people of Silver City. He is a New Yorker via Tucson recently transplanted. He couldn't get over how friendly everyone is; how everyone he meets on his daily walks says hello or good morning and means it! I've heard that story so many times while writing for Zia magazine, it must be true.

So look around, be appreciative of what we do have in our corner of the world. It makes everything else a little less stressful doesn't it?
