Saturday, June 14, 2014 – The Gila Regional Medical Center's (GRMC) Foundation had its 2014 Gila Classic Saturday, June 14. The day was beautiful and 19 teams came out to play some golf, have some fun and raise some money to help GRMC. Every year the hospital budgets for new equipment, but not every need can be filled for every department. The GRMC Foundation, through the Wish List, identifies and prioritizes those areas of need. Some of the ways the Foundation has used the funds in the past was to assist in the purchased a New Ambulance, the construction of the Cancer Center and Billy Casper Wellness Center and to help put in a new Helipad. The Gila Classic is the primary fundraiser to raise money for the Hospital.

The 1st place winner for the 2014 Gila Classic was the Griffin Propane Team, (Johnnie Sanchez, Al Moreno James Maestas and John Maestas - pictured above), 2nd Place was held by the Big O Tire and Farm Bureau Team (David De La Torre, Vince De La Torre, Doug Odell and Chris Odell) and 3rd Place went to the Town of Silver City Team (Peter Pena, Richard Perales, Buzz Perales and Roman Madrid). The winner of the Furthest Drive was Eric Chavez and the Closest to the Hole was Tony Ferruccio . All had a great time and closed with a fantastic lunch of Pork Carnitas provided by Morrison Foods, the Meal Sponsor for the event.
