Thanks to a grant from the United Way of Southwest New Mexico, The Silver City Gospel Mission has a new case worker on staff.

Recently hired was Christina Wolford, who holds a BS in Social Science and is close to obtaining her Masters degree in social work from WNMU.

Christie is originally from Ohio, but spent the majority of her life in Deming and enjoys camping and traveling. She has three kids, likes the work she does at the Gospel Mission because it gives her the chance to share her love and believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

Randy Salars, Executive Director, stated that the Mission is very happy to have Christie on board. We run the Mission with a small staff who are busy with their duties in the thrift store, food pantry and soup kitchen and Christie will have the time and skills to be able to give our clients closer one-on-one attention.

Christie will be be teaching life skills classes, counseling clients, helping them fill out applications for birth certificates, id's and food stamps, assisting them with job training and employment opportunities, driving and assisting them at the income support division, HUD and HMS Family services and referring them to other agencies.

It's with great pleasure that we welcome Christie on board!
