Local Kiwanis members attended their annual Southwest District convention August 1-3. Members attending from Silver City included Kiwanis Club of Silver City President, Sabrina Pack; Kiwanis Club of Silver City President-Elect and Southwest District Foundation Board member, Craig "Horse" Pfeifer; Kiwanis Club of Silver City Treasurer and Aktion Club Administrator-Jerry Frielder; Southwest District CKI Associate Administrator and Human and Spiritual Values Administrator, Lori Bonomo; Southwest District K-Kids Administrator, Alma Carson; Kiwanis Club of Silver City Board member, John Baumberger; Kiwanis member, Sabra Humphrey, and WNMU CKI members Robert Pack, Chad Paavola, and CKI Lieutenant Governor, Serina Pack.

Robert Carson, long-time Kiwanian from Silver City, was elected as "Governor-Elect" for the incoming Kiwanis year 2014-15. Then in 2015-16, he will advance to Governor of the Southwest District, which is a district that covers all of New Mexico, Arizona, and El Paso with 18 divisions and 118 clubs. He is a Past Distinguished President, Past Distinguished Lt. Governor, Kachina recipient, and has been serving as Kiwanis CKI Administrator and Key Leader Administrator. Robert Carson was also recognized with the Walter Zeller Fellowship award. His service to Kiwanis in every aspect is extensive, locally, district, and internationally. We are honored to have Robert Carson elected to serve in the District's highest position in 2015-16.

Lori Bonomo was installed as "Division 7 Lieutenant Governor" where she will advise and help to lead Kiwanis clubs in Silver City, Deming and Las Cruces. Lori Bonomo is a Past Distinguished President of Kiwanis Club of Silver City, past Distinguished Secretary, recipient of the Safeco Insurance Agency Giving Program 2011 Community Hero Award and also a past recipient of the Kiwanis Kachina recognition. Lori works closely on the local level with every aspect of the club, working to fulfill the Kiwanis mission, "To serve the children of the world." She serves as CKI Kiwanis Advisor for WNMU CKI and Cobre Key Club. She also is chairman of the Kiwanis Club of Silver City Terrific Kids recognition program that seeks to recognize youth in 10 elementary schools in the area. She is chairman of the Kiwanis-Rotary Bike Rodeo, Christmas Gifts to Fort Bayard Patients of the Alzheimer's and Dementia unit and helps with almost all Kiwanis service projects. On the district level, Lori Bonomo serves as Human and Spiritual Values District Chairman.
