Dear Community Supporters,

The faculty and staff of Aldo Leopold Charter School would like to send a message of thanks and appreciation to all who have been so supportive helping us over the past few months as we grieved the loss of three of our students, Ella Jaz Kirk, Ella Sala Myers, and Michael Sebastian Mahl. These have been difficult times for our school community and the outpouring of kindness, generosity and caring by friends, colleagues and community members has been comforting and inspiring Thank you all so much.

We have established the Memorial Scholarship Fund in an effort to keep Ella, Michael, and Ella in our hearts and minds. The Fund will provide selected graduating Aldo Leopold Charter School students the opportunity to reach their own potential in the manner we so admired in each of these three students. Their love of music and art and their leadership in the areas of environmental activism and civic engagement will continue to inspire Aldo students and staff in the years to come. Interested supporters can learn more by visiting the Aldo Leopold web site. http://www.edline.net/pages/ALHS

Aldo Leopold Charter School seeks to continue the ongoing process of strengthening programs, reviewing policies and procedures and refining the objectives of its experiential education components. Part of this effort includes ideas and comments from the wider community. We have a very simple "Community Feedback Survey" that is anonymous and we hope will provide the school administration and Governing Council feedback and comments of all types. This survey can be accessed from a link on the Aldo Leopold web site. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XG7BLG9

Additionally, we are updating our web site to include Governing Council Agendas and minutes so that people can be up to date with the ongoing governance and policy issues the school is working on. This information is always available at the school office.

The start of the new school year has been exciting and affirming. Our new students and new teachers have added fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our school community. Returning students and staff have brought thoughtfulness and appreciation for this tight knit learning community. We are off to a wonderful start of the school year. Again, thank you for the kindness and support that you have giving our students, families and staff these past three months and for the continued enthusiasm for our mission to provide students direct experience, inquiry learning, stimulation of the creative process, and stewardship of our community and natural environment.

Sincerely,

Aldo Leopold Charter School Faculty and Staff
