The Kiwanis K-Kids Club of G.W Stout Elementary School have again reached out in helping the surrounding community by putting their ideas into action. This Kiwanis sponsored service club is comprised of 5th grade students from G.W Stout that believe in service before self. The K-Kids are holding a new service project each month of the 2014-15 school year. The chosen service initiave for November was holding a large food drive and delivering the collected items to The Volunteer Center in Silver City. The students and staff at Stout collected over a half ton of non-perishable food for the Food Pantry with a total weight of 1177 lbs which will calculate to 903 meals going out to families in Grant County.

The mission of The Volunteer Center (TVC) is "to mobilize the volunteer human resources in Grant County to meet community needs." For the past ten years the TVC have been matching volunteers with opportunities to use their expertise, time and energy to expand, improve, operate, or create programs, services and projects that build community while meeting critical needs," according to Becca Anderson, Director of Programs at The Volunteer Center of Grant County.

K-Kids members have the opportunity to work together with Kiwanis-family volunteers and collaborating with other non-profit groups to make the community and the world a better place. Kiwanis K-Kids Faculty Advisor, Ben Duran, is very excited about the K-Kids club choosing worthy causes and taking the lead in serving the needs of the community.
