(Farmington) - Stan Jones, Assistant Vice President of Western Bank in Lordsburg, has been named "Ag Lender of the Year" by the Independent Community Bankers Association of New Mexico (ICBA/NM). Jones was recognized at the conclusion of the 2015 Ag Lenders Conference which was held in Farmington March 26 and 27.

Mr. Jones has been with Western Bank since 2001. He serves on the board of directors of Lordsburg Financial Corporation and is a former director at Western Bank. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Economics and is a 2003 graduate of the Western Agricultural Banking School. He is chairman of the Hidalgo County Soil and Water Conservation District, is a board member (and past president) of the Sunset Canal Company, and a board member of Glenbar Gin Company. He is active in his church and various other community activities.
Jones was chosen to receive the award by a group of his peers after having been nominated for the recognition. He was presented with a plaque by Chris Thomas, Senior Vice President of the Bank of Clovis, who served as chairman of the 2015 Ag Lenders Conference.

Western Bank is headquartered in Lordsburg, Hidalgo County, New Mexico and had $162,249,000 in total assets as of December, 31, 2014. The bank was founded in 1907 as the First National Bank of Lordsburg. It was re-chartered as a state bank and renamed Western Bank in 1982. The bank has branches in Silver City, New Mexico, and Bisbee and Willcox, Arizona.
