The Grant County Art Guild's Pinos Altos Art Gallery located in the historic Hearst Church is overflowing with the work of local artists and fine crafters. There is much to see, and this weekend we have some special featured artists who will be at the gallery to show you their exhibits as well as that of the 40+ guild members that show their work in this unique gallery.

On Friday, May 15, Mark and Jane Bowen will be at the gallery to welcome visitors. Mark creates metal art for the yard and home. His work is unique and reflective of southwestern culture. Jane is a multifaceted artist who paints but also works in fabric and needlework.

Jan Wagner will be the featured artist on Saturday, May 16. Jan is a very creative crafter who won "People's Choice Award in crafts" for her decorative clock at the first show of this season at the gallery. Jan's colorful cloth baskets are a popular item with many locals.

Jean Hatfield is a talented artist, works in graphic pencil, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, water colors and pastels. She does photography and has been an art instructor. Jean also creates a variety of knitted and fabric pieces for the gallery. Jean will be your hostess at the gallery on Sunday, May 17. Stop by and see the special exhibit of some of her newest work.

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery, 14 Golden Avenue, is open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 18. The Hearst Church was constructed in 1898, a building that is of interest to history buffs and the amazing art that you find there is bonus! Browsers always welcomed. Admission is free.
