Emergency entrance sign cropped web RSSeptember 17, 2015 - Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) regrets to announce the discontinuation of its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. After reviewing the new contract for the SANE program, it was determined that GRMC did not have the infrastructure or resources necessary to properly support it at this time. "With a lack of resources to properly support the grant requirements of the SANE program, we are unable to continue to provide these services" said Peggy White, Chief Nursing Officer at Gila Regional. "Patient care is our top priority, so we are working diligently with local agencies and medical providers to find a way to continue to provide these services in the community." In the mean time, sexual assault victims can and should still seek care at the GRMC ER. Once they are cleared medically, GRMC will refer them to Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) for continued support.
