The annual San Vicente Artists' Gila River and Southwest Landscape Art Show was held at the Artist Lair Gallery (old Elk's Club) at the corner of Texas and Market Streets in Silver City the weekend of Sept. 25-27. This year, the theme of the show was expanded to include all Southwestern art, and in all, there were 29 paintings and photographs entered. Most were entered for judging but a few for display purposes only. Jim Cain judged the paintings and David Mulvenna judged the photography.

The opening reception was held Friday night from 5-7 and over 30 people attended that evening with more viewing on Saturday and Sunday morning. Show results are as follows:

A tie for the People's Choice Award between Arlene Sarkela's €œMonument Valley € and Fidel Hinojosa's €œGila Retreat € was broken on Sunday morning by the last people viewing the show and Fidel Hinojosa won that award by one vote.
