FluShotClinic RSDiondra Vasquez, David Maynes and Gabriella Montes volunteer their time for the Hidalgo Medical Services drive-through flu shot clinic.

Silver City, NM - As flu season approaches, it is definitely time to consider getting that annual flu shot. This last Saturday Hidalgo Medical Services made it as painless as possible by offering drive-through flu shots at the HMS Silver City Community Health Center located at 1007 North Pope Street. Between the hours of 8 AM and 12 noon, HMS providers and staff and community volunteers administered 344 flu vaccines free to community members in the comfort of their own vehicles.

HMS has been offering drive through flu shot clinics since 2010, with a two year hiatus, but has brought back the clinics due to popular demand. Dr. Darrick Nelson, Hidalgo Medical Services Chief Medical Officer and interim CEO, commented on Saturday's event, "It is refreshing to see HMS positively impacting our patients and non-patients alike. €

On November 7th, the drive-through clinic moves to Lordsburg, where between 9 AM and 1 PM flu vaccines will be administered in front of the HMS Lordsburg clinic, located at 530 East DeMoss Street.

Hidalgo Medical Services offers medical, dental and mental health services throughout Grant and Hidalgo Counties in its network of 11 clinics. Please contact Linda Smith at 575 597-2720 for additional information.
