This author attended an event in Silver City on Feb. 19, 2015, which honored the veterans living in Grant County who served during World War II in the Iwo Jima battle in the Pacific Theater. The event, held at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center, was hosted by the Gaffney-Oglesby Marine Corps League Detachment 1328.

As reporter and photographer, this author took photos at and wrote an article about the event, which can be seen at http://www.grantcountybeat.com/news/news-articles/20240-on-the-70th-anniversary-of-iwo-jima-in-wwii-an-event-honors-three-marines

Frank Donohue, past commandant, submitted the article to Semper Fi magazine and reported that the photo was "finally" published on page 53 of the November-December issue of Semper Fi magazine, a publication for Marines.
