A very interesting fundraiser took place at this year's Grant County Fair. The Spurs 4-H Club of Cliff, NM put on a Gǣpig plop.Gǥ The concept behind this was that three pigs would be let loose in a pen with painted squares. Whichever pig pooped GǣploppedGǥ in the first square the person that bought that square wins a percentage of the money. The members went around the fair selling squares to people in order to raise money for their club.  Mr. Chuck Dinwiddie of Cliff was the lucky winner! The club will use the funds raised to fund club activities, events and trips. This fun fundraiser will hopefully become a tradition that we can all look forward to at the fair.

Also, On October 9, 2016 the Spurs 4-H Club with their parents and some grandparents installed fences around fifteen fruit trees at the Southwest Christian Center for one of their community service projects. The original fences around the fruit trees were removed and new ones where put up. The fences are to protect the trees from cattle and wildlife to give the trees a chance to mature. It was a nice warm afternoon but with all of the kids and adult helpers it didn't take any time at all. The kids that were there and participated in the community service were Riley and Catlin Brabson, Brye and Breck Baptist, Luke and Emmy Allsup, Tanna and Tucker Goar, Josh Agnew, Andrew and Zackary Eggleston, Samantha Jones, and Jeremy Younger. The kids enjoyed some yummy chocolate chip cookies, otter pops and ice cold water that Chris Bunts from the Southwest Christian Center had prepared. It was a great afternoon.
