The Silver City Museum welcomes Andie Portillo, the new Museum Educator. Hailing from Las Cruces, she received her Bachelor's in Spanish from NMSU in December of 2015. Ms. Portillo has worked and volunteered for the Las Cruces museum system for many years, creating engaging museum content for visitors of all ages. She has also recently finished a five-month long internship at the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum in Leadville, Colorado! Ms. Portillo says that she is "excited to develop engaging material and programming that focuses on the rich culture of New Mexico and the community of Silver City."

As Museum Educator, Ms. Portillo will be charged with overseeing adult, children, and family programming. She will be going out to the schools and into the community as well as offering tours and activities at the Silver City Museum. According to Museum Director Carmen Vendelin, "Andie Portillo was selected in a nation-wide search. She brings an understanding of our region and community and an ability to connect with people and to create meaningful experiences for families visiting the museum."
