Black Range Art Contest RSCourtesy PhotoTruth or Consequences, NM, January 13, 2017'For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest Black Range Ranger District hosted its first annual art contest this past fall. The theme for the contest was "My Outdoor Life" and was open to all Sierra County residents.

The entries were judged by all of the staff in the Black Range district office by each staff member voting for their top three favorites in each age group. Over 69 entries were received from children ages 3-18 and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes were awarded. Prizes included a Christmas tree and a Smokey Bear swag bag from the Black Range RD. Other prizes were awarded by Dukatt '71 who donated a t-shirt to all of the 1st place prize winners; and Sumthins Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop, who donated a free scoop of ice cream to all winners.

The art work is displayed until January 17 at the Geronimo Springs Art Museum located at 211 Main Street in T or C. A special thanks to the museum for donating the time and space for displaying the art work.
