Silver City P.E.O. members Mary Cowan and Karen Murphy recently met with Allison Sedillos to award her the 2017 Nancy Champlin P.E.O. Foundation Scholarship of $1000. Valedictorian at Cobre High School, Allison took dual enrollment classes at Cobre and WNMU and also received her Associate Degree from WNMU this semester.

Allison plans to attend NMSU in Las Cruces in the fall to pursue a degree in biology with future plans of entering a medical field. She has been active in the Key Club at Cobre High School and works part-time at Walgreens. She is the daughter of Lorraine Sedillos and the late Albert Sedillos.

P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization that provides scholarships, grants and loans to help women achieve their educational goals. The two local P.E.O. chapters raise money for this scholarship via their annual Purse Auction held in October.
