scacd projects rsPhoto courtesy of the Silver City Arts and Cultural DistrictSilver City, NM – The Silver City Arts & Cultural District (SCACD) is pleased to announce a few of the current promotional projects that are completed or in the works.

Since this spring, the SCACD marketing team has worked to develop new ads that show more diversity and will advertise Silver City as a destination in various regional publications in 2017/2018. These ads are in production for the coming fiscal year, and some were included in the recent Lodger's Tax application.

Outgoing SCACD Director, Callie Kennington, was instrumental in developing new promotional images, seeking to increase more culturally diverse advertising. Incoming Director Colleen Morton hopes to continue in the same vein.

The SCACD will soon be wrapping up the Department of Transportation's Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant received on behalf of the Town of Silver City. This project is meant to revitalize the trails in Silver City and the surrounding area through newly designed wayfinding signage leading people to these same trail systems and the installation of an informational kiosk that will be located outside of the Murray Ryan Visitor Center.

The Silver City Regional Tourism Economic Summit will be Monday, Sept. 25, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grant County Business and Conference Center. This summit is designed to establish a forum to discuss pressing issues and emerging opportunities influencing the tourism economy within the community. Working with the SCACD, Travels with Darley filmed in Silver City for a couple of hours, highlighting the downtown Historic District and its vibrant arts scene and local eateries, as well as the nearby Continental Divide Trail and Gila National Forest and the recreational opportunities they provide.
