Led by their teacher, Lynn Lane, twelve Jose Barrios 6th graders competed in the Southwest Regional Science Fair in Las Cruces on March 3rd. Seven of the students won awards, and four are advancing to the State Science Fair on April 6 & 7.

These students won awards in these categories:

Lexy Ortiz – 3rd Place in Behavioral & Social Science

Lane Porter – 1st Place in Botany: Plant Science
Dace Begay – 2nd Place in Engineering
Adam Senter – 2nd Place in Environmental Science
Kaelyn Housley – 3rd Place in Medicine & Health
Hannah Abeyta – 2nd Place in Medicine & Health

Special Awards were also received by:
Dace Begay from the Electrical Compliance of Engineering
Julia Rivera from the NM AVS Society for the best display board at the junior level
