Grant County residents again enjoyed our Love Your Library Day, a celebration we throw each year to thank the Silver City Public Library for hosting our organization in exchange for shared outreach. This year, Saturday, April 28 was warm, sunny and windless (also, no snow, which happened last year on April 1).
Over 300 attendees enjoyed free, gently used books for children and adults, free replacement library cards, cookies, healthy snacks, the Photo Booth, Lego Robots, crafts, games on the lawn, and musical and dance entertainment. In honor of International Children's Day, volunteer Dulce Escobar read author Susan Lowell's The Three Little Javelinas/Los Tres Pequenos Jabalies in both English and Spanish, and kids whacked a pinata on the lawn outside.
Music was provided by musician Brandon Perrault, singers Sherry and Bryce Wooton, and classical guitarist Philipe Holmes. Dance performances were given by the Conservatory of Dance of Silver City. Fun was had by all!
Pam Archibald of Western Bank donated the $50 gift card for the Grand Prize Winner, who will be announced in the next newsletter!
