hms entrance rsSilver City, NM – According to the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), National Health Center Week (NHCW) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America's health centers over the past five decades. NHCW is taking place this year from August 12 through August 18, 2018.

nhcw rsAs one of the participating community health centers (CHCs) in this year's nationwide NHCW recognition activities, Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS) (HMS) took the time to recognize the important contributions of its employees this week. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 was a day of appreciation for all HMS employees. "Between HMS' twenty-three sites throughout Hidalgo and Grant Counties – fourteen of which are clinical sites with practicing health care providers – our organization employs more than 240 employees. HMS is one of approximately 1,400 CHCs across the United States, and HMS is very proud of its employees," stated Dan Otero, HMS Chief Executive Officer.

Otero added, "Throughout the year, HMS supports its employees with annual recognition events, association and other memberships, continuing education, training, teaching, and volunteering opportunities, and professional development pathways. It is vital that I – and the senior leadership at HMS – regularly say 'thank you' as our employees work to accomplish HMS' mission, vision, and shared goals while better serving HMS patients, clients, and the community…and each other."

The NACHC actively promotes CHCs during National Health Center Week every year, as they collaboratively serve more than 27 million patients annually. Community Health Centers, such as HMS, produce innovative solutions to the most pressing health care issues in their communities and reach beyond the walls of conventional medicine to address the social determinants of health affecting special patient populations. The services offered at HMS include comprehensive primary medical, dental, mental health, family support and senior services, alongside its onsite partner pharmacy and laboratory services.
