(Courtesy Photo)Silver City, NM (November 7, 2018) – Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS) Chief Executive Officer, Dan Otero, shared an informative presentation at last week’s Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon with event attendees on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Western New Mexico University (WNMU) Student Cafeteria Sunset Room.

Otero highlighted HMS’ overall operational and clinical structures, industry associations, desire to partner with the community, and its current service lines, while reinforcing the fact that HMS is Hidalgo and Grant counties’ only Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). He stated that the organization and its leadership are committed to their ongoing mission of improving the health, well-being, and quality of life for our communities within southwestern New Mexico.

In addition to comprehensive senior healthcare services on the horizon, HMS is continuing to determine service needs to better serve Hidalgo and Grant counties. According to the CEO, a patient-centered, integrated care model continues to drive the business of its 15 current clinical locations. Otero briefly mentioned that looking towards 2019, HMS Bridges to Care will be housed at the 1000 Hudson Street building that HMS recently leased. According to the presentation, HMS has provided more than 55,000 delivered (home) meals and just fewer than 28,000 congregate meals to senior citizens across their service area.

Since 2016, HMS has recruited no less than 37 health care providers to Hidalgo and Grant counties, 26 of which are still on board their overall team of 68 total health care providers. HMS primary care services exceed the average performance in 10 of 15 of State of New Mexico – and 9 of 15 U.S. National – Uniform Data System (UDS) and FQHC-related clinical quality measures. The overall satisfaction rating that HMS patients give their care experience is over 98%. Otero also stated that more than 81% of all HMS patients said they would refer their family and friends to HMS for their health care services.
