The 1st annual Friends of Power and Light Press holiday market happened Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Power and Light Press, 601 N. Bullard Street. In addition to vendors there was also a holiday cookie competition, food from the Corner Kitchen, and beer and spirits from the Little Toad Brewery. Music was performed by a rotating ensemble of local talent, with Dustin Hamman, Natalie Rae Good, Ethan Novikoff, Roger Metcalfe, and Ray Cressler.

Power and Light Press owner Kyle Durrie said the idea was simple: after selling at various markets themselves throughout the year, why not host one of their own? "Our new space just lends itself so well to hosting events, it seemed like a no-brainer," Durrie said.

Vendor Colette Beers was excited to be among the lineup. "When I saw the lineup of artists, I thought I would be rubbing shoulders with giants. There are so many talented people in this room," she said.

Many shoppers and vendors echoed the same theme: Silver City has a lot of talent, and Power and Light Press got them in the same room for a packed event.

"We knew the lineup of vendors was really strong, and we put a lot of work into advertising and getting the word out, but you still never know if folks will show up," Durrie said. Power and Light was pleased overall and is already looking for feedback on how to improve for next year.
