Christine Fila, a local therapist who is visually impaired, came to talk to the girls about her service dog “Rosie." While Rosie is wearing her harness she is working and should not be distracted. Girls learned etiquette for when they are around guide dogs, such as don't touch, don't pet or feed, don't call the dog by name, and don't give the dog commands. Girls were told that Rosie understands about 40 words (commands) and were told it cost about $60,000.00 to raise and train one guide dog. Guide dogs are the the guiding eyes for people who are blind or visually impaired, and they are specially bred and trained for this most important job. At the end of the presentation Rosie's harness was taken off so the girls could pet and hug her.
