peorecipientKaweah Yarbrough, recipient of the 2019-20 Nancy Champlin P.E.O. Foundation ScholarshipSilver City P.E.O. Chapters AG and BR have awarded Kaweah Yarbrough of Cliff the 2019-20 Nancy Champlin P.E.O. Scholarship award of $1,000. Kaweah’s impressive accomplishments, awards and activities include holding the office of president of several organizations: National Honor Society; Business Professionals of America; Key Club and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America at Cliff High School. She has won 1st place at Cliff High School and regional science fairs and for Art in the 2018 Grant County Fair. Her community service includes working as a librarian at the Gila Valley Library for several years during high school, volunteering at the local humane society, and serving as an intern for children’s summer programs at the Silver City Public Library.

Kaweah has been accepted at Northern Arizona University where she plans to major in Early Childhood Development and Special Education. Among her goals for the future are contributing to changes in the educational system to emphasize student skills and helpful knowledge. 

P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization that provides scholarships, grants, and loans to help women achieve their educational goals. The two local P.E.O. chapters, AG and BR, have raised money for this scholarship via their Purse Auctions.
