Seated Billie BehrensDedication, service and a true sister of the heart, these words describe former Grant County resident, Billie Behrens, who recently received the highest award given to a Beta Sigma Phi member, The International Award of Distinction.

Billie became a Pledge of Beta Sigma Phi in 1969 in El Paso, Texas and continued her membership when she relocated to Silver City.  A few years ago, Billie moved to Santa Fe to be closer to her son and his family and felt the need to pursue the chartering of a new chapter.  She spent many hours communicating with the International Office, sending out invitations to meetings, organizing socials and posting public notices to attract members.

She has held all chapter offices, chaired numerous committees, served as chapter representative to the Grant County Coordinating Committee.  Billie recruited several new pledges and has progressed through all the Beta Sigma degrees.

Ms. Behrens was instrumental in helping organize the re-lighting of the Christmas tree in Gough Park, the Cancer Relay for Life project, and she also co-chaired the 2008 New Mexico State Convention of Beta Sigma Phi which was held in Silver City.  She has attended various New Mexico state conventions and was an attendee at the 2016 International Convention held in Kansas City.

Wherever Billie is, she is an inspiration to all that meet her and especially to her fellow Beta Sigma Phi sisters.  She shares her knowledge with anyone who asks. Preceptor Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi congratulates Billie in the outstanding honor.
