ClickOn Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, the Republican Party of Grant County recognized two of the county's local law enforcement to thank them for outstanding service to the Grant County community. The organization was honored to do this and intends to continue this every month. One recognition came from the Grant County Sheriff's Office, and one from the Silver City Police Department. "We are hoping in the future to include the local State Police," a spokeswoman said.

The deputy this month was Deputy Brandon Reese. He was born and raised in Grant County and has seven years in law enforcement and almost two years with the Sheriff's Department. He has proven to be an invaluable asset and has responded to calls with the same skill as a veteran deputy. He has shown compassion and care when dealing with citizens and always maintains a high level of professionalism. He has excelled at every task he has been given. Sheriff Frank Gomez nominated Reese, who received a certificate, challenge coin and NM Blue Line Pin, presented by Peggy Tavizon.

The officer nominated from the Silver City Police Department was Detective L. Click. She served with distinction as a patrol officer where she earned the respect of her fellow officers starting in 2008. In 2018 she was promoted to Detective Click and worked in general investigations as well as CYFD (Child, Youth, and Family Department). She is also working with the NM Attorney Generals office in assisting with ICAC (Internet Crimes against Children & Human Trafficking). She received a certificate, challenge coin and NM Blue Line Pin from Christine Starr.
