Makayla MartinezMakayla MartinezAs a graduating senior on the A honor roll at Silver High School, Makayla Martinez also recently graduated with honors, earning an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Western New Mexico University, where she has been dually enrolled the past four years. In addition to academic achievement, Makayla has demonstrated outstanding leadership and accomplishments in athletics and extracurricular activities. Makayla will be attending the University of Arizona where she plans to pursue a degree in Biology and an eventual doctorate in Medicine (Dermatology).

Phoenix HoganPhoenix HoganAn academically achieving student as well, Phoenix Hogan has been active in the Youth Conservation Corps and local community theaters. Following graduation from Aldo Leopold Charter School, Phoenix will attend the University of New Mexico where she will pursue a bachelor's degree in Communication and Speech Science followed by a masters degree in Speech Pathology.

Funds for the endowed scholarship were raised primarily by Silver City P.E.O. Chapters AG and BR via a purse auction held annually to honor then-resident Nancy Champlin's serving as state P.E.O. president in 2013. First awarded in 2015, the scholarship has now helped 11 young Grant County women to further their educational dreams.
