Some comments on WNMU President Shepard speaks at Silver City-Grant County Chamber Of Commence.

President Shepard is quoted as saying "We at the Board of Regents meeting today raised tuition 6%. Fees are also increasing with an impact overall of a 13% increase". I'm not sure what he means by some of his terms, but this is what I know: For a student taking 15 hours, tuition and fees will increase from $2361.60 to $3006.99 for Fall 2014, an increase of 27.3%. Tuition and fees for Fall 2014 at Eastern will be $2428.40, WNMU is $578.59 more expensive. Fall 2014 at Highlands tuition and fees will be $2250, WNMU is $756.99 more expensive. Fall 2014 at NMSU will have tuition and fees of $3286.50, WNMU is only $279.51 less expensive.

Tuition and fee increases for other state institutions run from 5.6% to 12%. They operate under the same funding formula as Western does.
