Dear Editor:

Harry Browne, District 5 candidate for the Grant County Commission, has a unique vision to foster economic sustainability in our area that was well articulated in the Democratic Commissioner's Public Forum on Thursday, April 28 at WNMU Miller Library. Browne's commitment to the idea of "the triple bottom line"--social, economic, and environmental sustainability-- is exemplified by the depth and breadth of his contributions to our community over the years. Grant County residents would benefit from his unwavering vision upon his election.

As an energetic and knowledgeable founder of Gila Resources Information Project (GRIP) and Aldo Leopold Charter School (ALCS) Browne has worked to preserve and improve access to public lands, access to a high quality education grounded in experiential education, and access to long-term economic opportunity for all. He recognizes the value of returning to a community that fosters homegrown mom-and-pop shop commerce where profits generated in this community stay in this community. He further recognizes that economic health is in all of our hands and supports efforts to strengthen food security with local food production and processing.

Browne understands that the Gila River is the lifeblood of this community, nourishing farms, ranches, and the wild places that draw visitors and county residents alike. He will stand to protect this vital resource for us all.

As a fellow founder of ALCS, I can attest to Browne's deep, insightful commitment to our community rooted in cooperation and collaboration with all. Throughout our eleven years as a school, I have been impressed with his unbiased and thoughtful leadership that has been the foundation and assurance of our success.

Get out there and vote Grant County! Early voting begins May 10.

Sincerely,

Catalina Claussen
