When Obama was elected, when Clinton was elected, when George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were elected, people who didn't vote for them didn't throw a temper tantrum because they lost, and they certainly didn't hire people to torch cars and break store windows on the day of our peaceful transition of power when the presidents came into office.

Many countries over the decades have changed power by overthrowing the government and killing, often by beheading in the Middle East, their leaders.

Are we treading down that roadway? If so, our founding fathers are restless in their graves, as are many of us still alive, who believe the U.S. Constitution is the finest governmental document ever to be written and followed in the history of the world.

We in the U.S., from the founding of our nation have had a turnover of presidents every four years, or eight if a president was re-elected, without violence.

Until this year, when supposed adults held protests, peaceful and violent, in D.C. and across the nation, during and immediately following the inauguration because they didn't get their way.

We have a new president. Some of us, many of us, didn't vote for him.

But we didn't throw a fit. We watched the inauguration with pride in our country.

Why should opposition groups hire people to damage stores and vehicles, start fires, and just, in general, be non-law-abiding citizens? How does this help our country? What benefit do continuing "peaceful" protests, where those with opposing opinions are not welcome, offer those who live in the U.S.?

What happened to civil discourse, often touted by many, but rarely implemented? Why can't those who disagree indulge in philosophical discussions and try to find common ground? A great deal of agreement can always be discovered. Why do we have to be polarized? Is it because of too much media, too much information available around the world?

I believe that one of the main reasons many U.S. residents'native, legal and illegal'become violent when they don't get their way is because they have no moral compass. God is not part of their lives. No one'a parent, grandparent, church pastor or synagogue rabbi'has taught them the difference between right and wrong.

The U.S. was created Under God, and perhaps God is telling us that he has forsaken us, as he did in the fall of Babylon, which had fallen into evil ways. But many also believe that this change of leadership may demonstrate God smiling down on the U.S. to give its residents strength to fight the Devil.

Will the U.S. follow the path of decline? It seems too likely, given the history of great powers losing influence, such as Babylon, Persia, the Greeks, the Roman Empire, and even in our modern history, the decline of the British Empire. It's probably in our future, but it's happening way too fast. The power of evil is overcoming us. Don't let the Devil win'locally, regionally, statewide or nationally. God Bless America!
