Hobbs, NM (November 2, 2012) – Today, U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement on the October unemployment numbers, which showed unemployment rise to 7.9%.

“Again, New Mexicans see the results of Obama's failed policies,” said Pearce.  “Four years ago, we were promised that unemployment would be under 6% by now if we were willing to sacrifice our freedoms, put our country even deeper into debt, and spend trillions of dollars we don't have.  Now, all we have to show for the President's reckless policies are 12.3 million unemployed Americans.  Of serious concern to New Mexico is the fact that unemployment nationwide among Hispanics remains even higher-last month it rose to a shockingly high 10%.  And, the U.S. lost 9,000 mining jobs in October-more proof that Americans cannot afford the President's devastating energy policies.  Mr. President, it's time to stop taking from Americans, and try the new solutions we've offered in the House: solutions that will let small businesses flourish, and let Americans get back to work.”
