DPNM Calls on Governor Martinez, GOP Candidates to Be Transparent on Trump

Albuquerque, N.M. - The Democratic Party of New Mexico called on Governor Martinez and New Mexico GOP candidates to be transparent on Trump after New Mexico GOP announced its support for Donald Trump.

Democratic Party of New Mexico pointed out that Governor Martinez has not answered reporters' questions and continues to hide from New Mexicans on her support for the Republican nominee, which presumably will be Trump.

"Donald Trump is one of the most damaging candidates I have ever seen in my life. Trump perpetuates racism against immigrants, has no realistic plan to improve our economy, is clueless on foreign policy, and continues to spread hatred wherever he goes," said Debra Haaland, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. "The New Mexico GOP's endorsement should be a warning sign for all New Mexicans that Republicans in our state plan to follow Trump's lead, and Governor Martinez and all Republican candidates owe New Mexico answers. Governor Martinez can't hide from reporters much longer'New Mexicans deserve an honest answer on whether our governor will stand with Donald Trump and his offensive remarks and reckless policy positions now that he has a clear path to the nomination."

Shortly after Donald Trump was named the winner of the Indiana Republican Primary, Ted Cruz left the race and the New Mexico GOP announced its support for Trump.
