Albuquerque, NM - In an address to a joint session of the New Mexico legislature today, Congresswoman Lujan Grisham inappropriately used the platform to repeatedly promote her gubernatorial campaign and highlight campaign staff.

"Congresswoman Lujan Grisham has forgotten that she was invited to speak to the joint session as a member of New Mexico's congressional delegation, not as a Democrat candidate for governor," said Republican Party of New Mexico Spokesman Tucker Keene. "In a state where ethics have often been an issue for Democrat elected officials, it's hard to take seriously Congresswoman Lujan Grisham's call for a 'new beginning' when she's starting her race with a campaign speech in a government building."

This was one of the first speeches of her campaign, and already Congresswoman Lujan Grisham is campaigning in a manner unbecoming of the office for which she's running.

"The Lujan Grisham campaign is off to a bad start," said Keene. "Addresses to the Legislature are meant to be for policy, not politics, and any candidate for governor should respect that."
