Albuquerque, NM - Today, the Republican Party of New Mexico released the following statement on Governor Susana Martinez signing HB 370, the legislation sponsored by Republican Reps. Sarah Maestas Barnes and Rebecca Dow, which will drastically increase the availability of naloxone, a drug that reverses some of the effects of opioid overdoses:

"We thank Governor Martinez for signing this important legislation," said Republican Party of New Mexico Spokesman Tucker Keene. "New Mexico has among the highest rates of opioid overdose deaths in the country, and the bill Gov. Martinez signed today will save lives and help combat the scourge of drug addiction in our state. Our state has been in need of leadership from the legislature on this issue for far too long, and Republican Representatives Sarah Maestas Barnes and Rebecca Dow deserve commendation for their hard work passing this innovative solution."
