Albuquerque- Last week, Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein made alarming anti-Catholic remarks against Judicial Nominee Amy Coney Barrett. Feinstein suggested that Barrett's personal Catholic beliefs would hinder her ability to uphold the United States Constitution. New Mexico Democrats have remained silent on the issue, allowing Feinstein to go unchallenged in her accusation that individuals of the Catholic faith should be viewed with suspicion and possibly barred from holding public office.

The Republican Party of New Mexico is calling on Michelle Lujan Grisham, Ben Ray Lujan, Tom Udall, and Martin Heinrich to denounce Feinstein's anti-Catholic remarks.

"Catholics of all political backgrounds play a major role in New Mexico's rich religious history," said RPNM spokesman Dominic Pacheco. "The implication that people of the Catholic faith should be prohibited from holding public office should disgust any person who believes that our country values religious liberty. If New Mexico Democrats refuse to denounce the anti-Catholic bigotry coming from one of their party's senior leaders, we can only conclude that they endorse these vicious remarks."
