Her campaign requested the following "quotes and background."

The CHC Chairwoman takes allegations of sexual assault and harassment extremely seriously. In fact in December of 2017, she released the following statement in response to sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations made against members of Congress: “It is the position of the CHC that those responsible for sexual harassment or sexual assault must be held accountable. Every allegation of sexual harassment and misconduct is extremely disturbing and requires a thorough investigation. As elected officials, we must adhere to the strictest and highest standards, regardless of political party, elected office, or seniority. The CHC is committed to being a part of the solution, which ensures that our workplaces are safe, professional, and treat all employees with dignity and respect.”

Further, she even angered many Congressional colleagues for quickly calling for a Member to resign after he was accused of sexual harassment and admitted to inappropriate behavior: “These allegations are really troubling. I made a personal statement about resignation earlier than these new set of allegations,” Lujan Grisham said Thursday. “I’m disheartened and upset…I think individual members of our caucus are likely to be speaking out about this.”

In regards the case mentioned in the headline, please note that she has spoken to Rep. Cardenas privately to express her concerns. The Congresswoman called for an ethics investigation into the matter and Congressman Cárdenas said he will fully cooperate with an Ethics investigation. He also appropriately asked the Congresswoman to withhold judgement until there is a full investigation of the facts.
