THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. ICYMI: PUBLIC HEARINGS BEING HELD NOW ON RANKED CHOICE VOTING AND BALLOT WORDING
Unless you're following the NM Secretary of State's office on Facebook or Twitter, you likely missed the fact that hearings are being held this week on Ranked Choice Voting and the wording of questions on ballots.
One hearing was held yesterday (July 29) in Santa Fe. One is being held today (7/30) in Albuquerque -- click here to see it live on Facebook (brought to you by RPNM). Or via the the City of Albuquerque's website.
Another hearing is being held TOMORROW, JULY 31 IN LAS CRUCES at 1:00 PM.

It's clear that Democrat NM Secretary of State Maggie Tolouse Oliver is not keeping her eye on the ball when it comes to appropriately informing the public about these hearings. Nothing about them (time/date/location info) can be found on the NM SOS newsroom. There were no recent reports or reminders about them in the major newspapers or on the TV stations. Perhaps she's been too distracted by her ambitious run for the U.S. Senate seat. Or being at home and not in the office as she reads aloud from the Mueller Report.
Or maybe they just don't want to hear public comment before they force their will upon the public.
Nonetheless, it's important for Republicans to weigh in on these matters, particularly Ranked Choice Voting (RCV).
It's already been implemented in Santa Fe's municipal elections. Albuquerque considered it before the city council decided to vote it down -- for now.
The problems:
Violates the time-honored principle of "one person, one vote."
Results could likely be logically flawed.
Results are not transparent.

Proponents say that RCV will save taxpayer dollars. Since progressives are the ones pushing RCV, you have to ask yourselves, when do progressives actually care about saving the public money?
