This Sunday, August 31, there are a couple of the Grant County Art Guild's very talented and creative members as featured artists at the guild's Pinos Altos Art Gallery. John Catsis is a photographer known for the quality and originality in his work. John has taught photography at the university level and continues to show the best of his work at the gallery and also in photo cards at the Silver City Museum and other locations. Connie Thibeau is a talented artist who paints in oils and other media . Connie has been a past "Best in Show" winner in guild competition with her remarkable landscapes. She has been an art instructor at the college level also. John is on the board of directors for the guild and Connie has been generous with her expertise in helping with special shows and exhibits sponsored by the guild. They have added much in energy and artistic ability to The Grant County Art Guild in their two years as active members.

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays. Since this is Labor Day Weekend, that means we have four days that the gallery is open from 10 a. m. till 5 p.m. On Friday, August 29, Ruth Hamby will be attending the gallery and there to show you her latest works. Ruth paints mainly in oils. On Saturday, August 30, Carolyn Gray-Patty will be the featured artist. Carolyn's paintings continue to draw attention of visitors to the gallery and judges of the guild shows. She won first place in pastels at the guild's Members Only Show that opened the season. On Labor Day, Monday, September 1, the gallery will be open with Susan Rice as the featured artist. Susan is well-known in the area for her stained glass creations as well as her affordable original jewelry pieces. This is a great day to stop by and visit with Susan about her work being offered at the gallery.

The Grant County Art Guild is a nonprofit organization of 41 local artists and fine craftors who gather to show and sell their work as well as share their knowledge in art. The Pinos Altos Art Gallery, located at 14 Golden Avenue, just 7 miles from Silver City in the historic Hearst Church, is their seasonal home from early May through October 5. The popular Purchase Prize Show opens with a reception on September 23 and continues the following two weekends. After the closing of the season at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery, guild shows at alternative locations include the "Art in the Barn" show, the "Old Masters" show and the "Southwest Birds" show. Buyers and browsers are always welcome at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery and our upcoming shows and receptions. And there is never an entry fee for visitors to our gallery or shows.
