Players from the Arizona Vintage Baseball League, pictured here, will challenge local baseball players.

Two vintage baseball games will be a feature of Fort Bayard Days—played on Saturday, Sept. 20—the first at 11 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m.—on the Fort Bayard parade ground. The vintage baseball rules are similar and in many ways very different from our games today. Come out and cheer the home team.

A traditional ballpark frank lunch will be served as a fundraiser for the Fort Bayard Restoration and Development Coalition at a cost of $5. Each lunch will include the hot dog and bun, a soda, Mimbres Valley apples, watermelon and a Snickers bar.

Teams from the Vintage Baseball League of Arizona will challenge two teams put together here in Grant County of county players to represent the historic Fort Bayard Burros baseball team. The Rev. Earseye Ross and Senior Olympics Organizer Mario Quintana are rounding up local players.

Saturday is the second day of Fort Bayard Days and features booths with historic re-enactments, as well as a military band playing in the afternoon, a military ball in the evening and the vintage baseball teams.

Come out and visit Fort Bayard on Friday or Saturday. You'll think you've gone back in time.
