The Grant County Art Guild's 2nd Annual "Art in the Barn" fine art and crafts show is happening in the banquet room at the Red Barn Steakhouse at 708 Silver Heights Boulevard. The date is this Saturday, October 25, opening at 10 a.m. and going till 5 p.m. It's a great time to come see local arts and crafts and maybe even do a little early holiday shopping. There will be an assortment of booths by Grant County Art Guild members featuring paintings, photography and handcrafted items. And there are some new "twists" to this collaboration between local business and local artists.

For something special this year, from noon till 2 p.m., favorite local folk singers the "Mountain-Aires" will be performing for the enjoyment of all. Come on out and hear this entertaining duo that was the crowd-pleasing opening act for this year's Picamania.

Also new this year, a young artists exhibit will be featured. Stout Elementary art students will be showing fabric art pieces using Churro sheep wool. Further in support of education in the arts, there will be a table for you to make your silent auction bid on donated art and crafts by the Guild members. All the proceeds from the silent auction will be going to provide needed art supplies for local youth art classes.

In keeping with the Grant County Art Guild's mission statement, there will be a demonstration by one of the local art community's well-known artists and art instructors, Rita Sherwood. Between 10:30 and 11:30, Rita will be showing you how fine art is created. Her award-winning painting "I Am Woman" will also be on display throughout the day. It is an amazing piece. You might also stop by in the afternoon to see other artists and crafters doing their work.

The Grant County Art Guild members cordially invite the community to come to "Art in the Barn" to see arts, crafts, friends and have a fun time.
